Correct Seismic Deficiencies, Building 14

Efficient logistics infrastructure plays a critical role in supporting day-to-day healthcare operations across a medical campus. At the Marion VA Medical Center, aging support facilities and disconnected campus infrastructure created operational inefficiencies that limited long-term flexibility for the growing healthcare campus.

Above Group partnered with the VA to design a new 14,500 SF warehouse and underground tunnel connection that modernized material flow, improved campus connectivity, and strengthened infrastructure resiliency. Designed within an active healthcare environment, the project required close coordination around occupied facilities, existing underground utilities, and ongoing medical center operations.

The new facility will incorporate climate-controlled storage environments, emergency power infrastructure, campus-integrated security systems, and utility coordination aligned with VA operational requirements. Structural systems were designed to meet current seismic standards while supporting tunnel construction adjacent to existing buildings.

As an SDVOSB engineering firm specializing in federal healthcare infrastructure, Above Group delivered multidisciplinary engineering solutions focused on long-term reliability, operational efficiency, and maintainable campus support infrastructure.
