Veterans living throughout Cape Cod and the surrounding coastal communities required expanded access to modern outpatient healthcare services closer to where they live. To support growing patient demand and improve long-term healthcare delivery throughout the region, the Department of Veterans Affairs developed a replacement Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) designed to modernize outpatient care infrastructure for veterans across Cape Cod.

Above Group provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, telecommunications, and security engineering services for the replacement outpatient clinic facility. The project supports primary care, mental health, telehealth, women’s health, and specialty outpatient services within a modern healthcare environment designed to improve patient experience, operational efficiency, and long-term facility performance.

Because outpatient clinics serve as critical regional access points for veteran healthcare, the engineering approach focused on creating resilient, maintainable building systems capable of supporting evolving healthcare technology and clinical operations. Above Group coordinated infrastructure systems supporting patient care environments, clinical workflows, healthcare technology integration, and long-term operational flexibility aligned with VA facility standards.

The project also emphasized energy-efficient building performance, reliable environmental control systems, and infrastructure coordination supporting future adaptability within the outpatient care setting.

As an SDVOSB engineering firm specializing in federal healthcare infrastructure, Above Group understands the importance of designing outpatient healthcare environments that expand access to care while supporting long-term operational reliability for VA healthcare systems.
